Office of Education Launches New Wellness Center Website

The Lassen County Office of Education has launched a new online resource, the LCOE Wellness Center website, to provide accessible mental health support for students, families and educators. The launch coincides with Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and is a central hub for promoting well-being and early intervention throughout Lassen County schools.

New Website Offers Comprehensive Mental Health Resources
The user-friendly website offers valuable tools to help the school community navigate mental health challenges, connect with support services, and access practical strategies for self-care. According to LCOE Communications Specialist Kaitlyn Midgely, the site is designed to be a central resource for mental health and wellness.

Amber Akiwo, a member of LCOE’s Mental Health and Wellness team, explained, “The Wellness Center is part of our continued commitment to ensuring that every student feels seen, heard, and supported. We know that mental health is foundational to learning and success and this site helps bring that support directly to our school communities.”

The new website features 24/7 access to a variety of resources, including links to local and national crisis support services, tips on coping strategies, mindfulness, and emotional regulation.

There are also specialized sections tailored for students, families, and educators with suicide prevention education and tools for recognizing warning signs.

According to Midgely, the launch of this resource reinforces LCOE’s focus on creating safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments as the new academic year begins. The Wellness Center extends the ongoing efforts of LCOE departments, such as the SAFE Communities of Practice, Community Schools, and Mental Health Teams, to foster a culture of care and connection.

A Call to Connect
During Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, LCOE encourages everyone to check in on themselves and those around them. The organization emphasizes that help is always available for students, educators, parents, and community members. The LCOE Wellness Center website can be accessed by following this link.
