Office of Education Opens Nominations for 2026 Excellence in Education Awards

Do you know an educator, staff member, or volunteer who goes above and beyond for Lassen County students? Now is the time to give them the recognition they deserve.

The Lassen County Office of Education has officially opened nominations for its annual Excellence in Education Awards. This prestigious program honors individuals who exemplify excellence, dedication and a deep commitment to serving local school communities.

According to LCOE Communications Specialist Kaitlyn Midgely, the awards celebrate those who leave a lasting mark on the lives of students through their leadership and heart for service.

“LCOE invites staff, families, students, and community members to nominate exceptional individuals who set the standard for professional impact and inspire others,” says Midgely.

The criteria for the nomination are simple: LCOE is looking for individuals who personify caring, maintain high expectations for learning, and have made unselfish contributions to the education field. Nominees should be worthy role models who embody integrity, innovation, and a passion for student success.

Award Categories
Nominations are being accepted across a wide range of categories to ensure all corners of the school community are represented:

  • Administrator: (Superintendents, principals, executive directors, deans, etc.)
  • Certificated Staff: (Teachers, instructional coaches, nurses, counselors, speech pathologists, etc.)
  • Classified Staff: (Paraprofessionals, cafeteria staff, custodians, bus drivers, maintenance, tech coordinators, etc.)
  • Parent
  • Community Partner / Volunteer
  • School Site

There is no limit to the number of people you can nominate, though each nomination requires a separate form. The selection committee will review each submission based on the specific answers provided regarding why the nominee should receive this special recognition. Midgely notes that while every nominee is valued, the committee is unfortunately unable to recognize every individual submitted.

How to Nominate
To submit a nomination, you must provide a description of no more than 500 words explaining how your nominee exemplifies excellence in education.

Nominations can be submitted online by clicking here or by visiting the LCOE website at www.lcoe.org.

The deadline to submit nominations is March 30th, by 4:00p.m.

The winners will be honored at the 2026 Educator Gala, which is scheduled for Friday, May 15th, at 5:30p.m.
