Officers Interupt Recycling Theft at Westwood Power Plant

sheriffupdateOn March 17th at around 2:30p.m., Lassen County Sheriff’s Deputies and Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to an alarm at the Westwood Covanta Power Plant, interrupting a Westwood resident who was allegedly stealing recyclable goods from the facility.

The initial responding Deputy arrived on scene and contacted a male subject walking out of the building. The Deputy detained the man who was identified as 38 year-old Westwood resident Robert Hazelton.

After questioning, the Deputy determined Hazelton gained access onto the Covanta Power Plant property and entered a building for the purpose of obtaining recyclable goods.

Hazelton was arrested and booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of Burglary and Trespassing.

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office thanked the CHP Officers that responded to assist.
