The Lassen County Fair has announced the official results for the 2026 Carcass and Rate of Gain contests, bringing a rewarding and educational close to this year’s 4-H and FFA livestock projects.
Carcass contests provide an important look at industry standards by creating an awareness of current carcass qualities desirable to both the commercial industry and consumers.
Rather than evaluating solely on live appearance, the contest allows youth exhibitors and buyers to see how the meat truly compares based on quality and yield.
Youth exhibitors who placed in the contest received monetary awards for their hard work.
