One man was taken to Banner Lassen Medical Center for treatment of a single gunshot wound Thursday evening after being shot during an altercation with an unidentified subject on Cornell Street in Susanville.
The incident occurred at around 5:30p.m., according to Susanville Police Sergeant Ryan Cochran, and when officers arrived on-scene in the 1500 block of Cornell Street they found a 53-year old male who had been shot once in the leg. The name of the victim has not been released by the department.
Personnel from the Susanville Fire Department, along with a SEMSA medical unit, arrived on scene and transported the wounded man to the hospital for treatment of his injury.
“During the course of the initial investigation,” detailed Cochran, “it was learned that two male subjects were involved in an argument and during the course of that argument one of the subjects brandished a firearm and shot the other subject one time, hitting him in the leg.”
The shooting suspect fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
The incident is still under investigation and any persons with information regarding this matter are encouraged to contact the Susanville Police Department at (530) 257-5603.
