An 18 year-old Susanville resident has been booked into the Lassen County Jail on multiple charges including felony battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest with force or violence after he allegedly assaulted a Susanville Police Officer in Riverside Park Monday afternoon.
According to Police Lieutenant Matt Wood officers from the department were conducting a pedestrian stop in Riverside Park on a man who had previously given them a false name when the suspect, identified by police as Marcos Maciel, punched one officer in the face and officers were forced to use a Taser to subdue and take him into custody.
A subsequent search of the man found him to be in possession of brass knuckles and a switch-blade knife.
Maciel was booked into the Lassen County Jail on multiple charges including felony battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest with force or violence, possession of metal knuckles, possession of a switch blade knife and providing false information to a peace officer. He was held on $30,000 bail.
One officer was treated for minor injuries at Banner Lassen Medical Center.
The case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
