The Susanville Police Officer’s Association threw a big Christmas party on Saturday for some lucky kids who got to meet Santa, play fun holiday games and were escorted through the toy aisle at the Susanville Walmart by members of the Police Department and volunteers who helped the children pick out new toys.
Funding for the event came from money raised by the annual Police Officer’s Ball along with generous donations made by the community.
Officer Terra Avilla, who organized the Shop with a Cop event, called the community response overwhelming and said that because of the contributions every single eligible child who was nominated was able to participate.
The Lassen College Men’s Baseball team was on hand to play reindeer games with the kids – the kid’s favorite being ‘Santa Says.’
