Paid Culinary Training Opportunity in Local Schools: Chef Ann Foundation Launches Program

Are you interested in building culinary skills, exploring a career in school food service, and getting paid while you learn? The Chef Ann Foundation, is encouraging locals to apply for the upcoming Healthy School Food Pathway Pre-Apprenticeship.

This seven-week program is designed to give participants hands-on experience in bringing scratch cooking and sustainable ingredients to local K-12 school kitchens.

Earn While You Learn
Participants will earn $18 per hour for their on-the-job learning (subject to change based on county minimum wages). The program combines online coursework with live learning sessions and practical work in a school kitchen.

What You Will Learn
The pre-apprenticeship focuses on vital culinary and food service skills, including:

  • Large-scale recipe preparation.
  • Weighing and measuring ingredients.
  • Professional knife skills and food safety.
  • Scratch cooking in schools.
  • Recipe and menu development using local and sustainable ingredients.

Eligibility Requirements To participate, applicants must be:

  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Have the right to work in the U.S.
  • Available to complete 12 hours of paid, hands-on training per week during daytime hours.

The application deadline is January 28th, and the program runs from March 23rd until May 15th.
