RENEGADES SPLIT
The Susanville American Legion team opened the season splitting two doubleheaders. The Renegades opened with the Reno Muckdogs at McQueen High School on Saturday, June 1st. Colby Chavez took a shutout and a one run lead into the fifth inning. An error, two hit batters, and a triple with two outs, gave the Muckdogs a 3-1 win. Daniel Perry pitched one and a third innings of scoreless relief. The Renegades only got three hits by Chavez, Jarrell Cunningham, and an RBI single by Jake Hatzell.
Hunter Morris got the start in the second game and went four and a third innings. He gave up three runs and got two and two thirds of scoreless relief help from Jarrell Cunningham. The Renegades won the game 6-3. On offense, Ryan Sharpe and Tyler Winn each had two hits, and Winn had two RBI’s. Hunter Morris, Daniel Perry, Colby Chavez (double), Jarrell Cunningham, and Logan Loflin, each had one hit.
On Sunday, June 2nd, the Renegades hosted a doubleheader against the Redding Sun Devils. Susanville won the opener, 5-2 behind the complete game pitching effort by Ryan Sharpe. On offense, the story was a homer and double by Jake Thomas, who had four RBI’s. Collier and Morris each had a hit.
In the second game, the Renegades scored five in the first inning and took a 5-2 lead into the seventh inning. Unfortunately, the Muckdogs rallied to score four runs for a 7-5 victory. Garrison Collier went the first five and gave up three runs. Perry, Cunningham, and Sharpe each had two hits. Tyler Winn and Tommy Sharpe each had one.
