Paul Veryl Langslet passed peacefully Friday morning (July 22, 2022) with Debbie Langslet, his best friend and wife of fifty years by his side. Rocky, as he was known by his friends and family, is survived by his wife, Debbie Langslet, oldest son, Jason, (Teresa) and grandson Brayden Langslet all of Susanville, CA. Youngest son, Jesse, (Jolynn) Langslet and Attalee & Weston all of Roseville, CA. He also leaves behind two brothers plus multiple nieces and nephews.
Rocky’s parents were Paul and Noma Langslet of Susanville. Rocky graduated from Lassen High School in 1968. In 1969, he joined the National Guard for six years and spent six months at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Those who knew Rocky will remember his zest for life and integrity. They will remember his work around Susanville with the Lassen County Road Department. His work was done as a service to the residents of Lassen County for their benefit. His efforts to the county were done anonymously and were enjoyed by all, even though they might not have known the man behind the work.
Rocky met Debbie in high school and they were married on April 22, 1972, and recently
celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Together they raised their two sons, Jason and Jesse, who were instilled with Rocky’s work ethic and Debbie & Rocky’s moral compass.
He was an avid hunter, angler, and outdoorsman. His trophy room contains many record book mounts that represent adventures in multiple states and countries around the world. An enthusiastic NASCAR fan with a fervor for racing, Rocky’s heart was always driven by the need for speed. He took great pride in building his hot rod, a 41 Willys. This project occupied much of his time and gave him a great amount of joy in its meticulous construction.
It seems inadequate to put into few words the many contributions of a man of Rocky’s stature in Lassen County. He was larger than life and the City of Susanville is a better place to live because of Rocky. He represented the type of American that gave this country the moral fiber that epitomizes why this country is the best in the world. Rocky is a proud American. This county will miss Rocky and so will his family and friends.
