PG&E Announces Closures on Caribou Road Through September

Pacific Gas and Electric Company reports that due to a road repair project on Caribou Road in the Plumas National Forest, the road will be subject to intermittent closures for through traffic through mid-August, then will be completely closed to through traffic until mid to late September.

The closure is about six miles north of Highway 70, or about halfway between Queen Lily Campground and PG&E’s Belden Dam.

Currently during work hours on weekdays from 7:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., the road is only open once an hour at the top of each hour for one-way traffic controls through mid-August. Outside of work hours until mid-August, the road will be open to through traffic.

Starting in mid-August, Caribou Road – also known as U.S. Forest Service Road 27N26— will be completely closed to through traffic 24 hours a day at the work location until mid-to-late September.

The road repairs are necessary to stabilize a section of the roadway and to maintain safe and reliable access for the public and PG&E.

To reach Butt Valley Reservoir from the north, motorists are advised to take the Prattville-Butt Reservoir Road from Highway 89 in Prattville west to Butt Valley Reservoir.
Signage notifying motorists of the closures is posted along Caribou Road just north of Queen Lily Campground.
