Community members of all ages participated in a City-wide clean-up day held on Saturday, May 20th. Their efforts resulted in nearly 6 cubic yards of trash being removed along the Susan River and various streets.
“It was wonderful to see those who came out to volunteer and the City is grateful for their support,” said Ruth Ellis, event coordinator.
“There were 50 people in attendance and they included families to members of community organizations. The level of participation allowed us the ability to send groups to multiple locations around town including the Memorial Park area, Uptown Susanville, Main Street, Richmond Road, Weatherlow Street, Paul Bunyan Road and the Susan River Trail.”
In addition, Susanville Supermarket IGA and C & S Waste Solutions contributed to the success of the clean-up with generous donations of refreshments and a waste bin and recycling carts.
“The City would also like to express its appreciation to the several groups who held their own clean-up events in various locations around the City earlier this year. Their extra effort and support assists in keeping our community litter free,” said Ellis.
