The Lassen County Fairgrounds were packed with kids and their families last Saturday for the annual Community Easter Egg Hunt and, despite a wet mix of slush and fresh snow, kids still had a blast searching for the 12,000 colorful plastic, candy-filled eggs.
Buckets were overflowing with candy and an enjoyable time was had by all despite the inclement weather.
It’s a big event which requires a lot of volunteer help. From the volunteers who showed up last week to stuff eggs with candy, to all the nice folks who showed up to help the Easter Bunny hide eggs Saturday morning, it was certainly a group effort by a lot of people.
Special mention, of course, should be made of Susanville’s Easter Bunny, Tina Jacobs. Also, thanks to Lassen County Fair Manager Kaitlyn Downing and her Junior Fair Board, without whom the event wouldn’t be possible.
The Easter Egg Hunt was sponsored by the Lassen County Office of Education, Guess Plumbing, Diamond Mountain Casino, Town and Country Real Estate, Lassen Community College, Wemple’s Pumpkin Patch, C&S Waste, City of Susanville Natural Gas Division, Forest Office Equipment, Susanville Supermarket IGA, Lassen Municipal Utility District, Menath Insurance, Golden One Credit Union, Lassen Foster Youth Services, City of Susanville Click and Fix, WFP Ship and Print, Merry Morsels, Banner Lassen Medical Center and the Lassen County Probation Department.
