Seventy-nine eager runners and costumed walkers descended upon Susanville Ranch Park on October 22nd for a unique 5K Halloween fun run, organized by the Susanville Future Farmers of America. Under a beautiful, clear autumn sky—perfect weather for an outdoor Halloween event—the day proved to be a resounding success, blending athletic effort with fun and candy.
The event offered a creative twist on the standard 5K. As participants navigated the course, they were treated to trick-or-treat stations manned by a team of 30 enthusiastic FFA students from both Susanville and Herlong. The Future Farmers were busy passing out candy and prizes, transforming the scenic route into a festive, candy-filled adventure for all ages.
The fundraising effort was spearheaded by the Susanville FFA Ag Leadership class, which took charge of decorating, collecting the bounty of candy and prizes, and prepping the course logistics. The student efforts were strongly backed by the local community, with T-shirts for the event generously donated by Cross Freedom.
While the emphasis was on fun and costumes, the competitive spirit was alive and well. The event recognized top finishers, with Tucker Bailey claiming the title of first male finisher and Tessa Langston leading the pack as the first female finisher. Prizes were also awarded to participants showcasing the best Halloween costumes.
