The Lassen Gravel Adventure, held on September 7th on the Bizz Johnson Trail and in the Lassen National Forest west of town, proved to be a resounding success, drawing in a total of 428 registered riders for the one-day event, which featured a 94-mile Full Squatch, a 63-mile Half-Squatch, a 40-mile Short Squatch and the new, 14-mile Mini Squatch route.
The event not only provided a fun and challenging ride but also gave back to the community. Proceeds from the Lassen Gravel Adventure will be split between the Lassen Land and Trails Trust and the Susanville Area Bicycle Association. Additionally, a donation was made to Project Hero in Reno, a program that supports veterans and first responders with conditions such as PTSD and TBI.
Charlotte Roberts, one of the organizers of the event, expressed her gratitude to the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office for their invaluable assistance in ensuring the safety of all participants. She also acknowledged the generous support of numerous local businesses and organizations, including HAMMER NUTRITION, Lassen Ale Works Boardroom, Grocery Outlet, Susanville Supermarket IGA, Lassen County Fair, Crazy J’s Concrete, Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel, Susanville Starbucks, Morning Glory Dairy, Nobles Construction Components, Noon Rotary and the Lassen High School Cross Country Team and Class of 2026.
“The Lassen High School Cross Country Team and the Class of 2026 catered the lunch for us and they did an awesome job,” Roberts said. “It really helped us make the event special and give it that small town charm.”
The race was managed and timed by Linda Powell and the Bizz Running Company.
