PhotoFeature: Inaugural Brush-Off Event Huge Success for Lassen Land and Trails Trust

What a neat afternoon! On Saturday Lassen Ale Works and Bottle & Brush Art Bar teamed up for a really unique little competition featuring seven talented local painters who created masterpieces while the crowd watched. The fundraiser, which benefited Lassen Land and Trails Trust, was a huge success, packing the Ale Works with spectators who all had a chance to vote for their favorite artwork.

The artists had 90-minutes from start to finish to create an outdoor, wildlife or landscape themed painting. Therese Fowler Bailey, Heather Desselle, Cassi Helt, Bryan Haynes, David Holsey, James Kleckner and Randy Panfilio all started with blank canvases and ended up with some amazing artwork.

When the voting was over it was Therese Fowler Bailey who took home the first-ever Brush-Off award for her painting of barns along Old Johnstonville Road with Thompson Peak in the background.

All of the paintings were auctioned off at the end of the competition and the money went to support Lassen Land and Trails Trust.

We put together a little gallery of photos so you could see how each painting was created and progressed throughout the afternoon. Thanks to the artists for letting me take pictures over their shoulders!
