More than 300 Lassen High School alumni, family and friends traveled from around the world to celebrate the high school they graduated from, and the hometown they love, Saturday at the Lassen High Alumni Association’s 41st annual picnic at the Lassen County fairgrounds.
Alumni Association President Donna Morelini presided over the event, welcoming the crowd and introducing several speakers including Jamie Giles from the Lassen College Foundation and new LHS principal/superintendent Mark Brewer.
Niki Jarrell, the organization’s Vice President, recognized several visiting alumni – Jack Fox who was a member of the earliest class represented, the Class of 1951, Ben Cunningham, from the Class of 2017, was the youngest grad in attendance and James Hardy Jr. from the Class of 1980 was recognized for traveling the furthest.
This year’s Alumni of the Year award was given to two Lassen graduates who have been instrumental in the Alumni Association’s success, Sandy Mineau and Kim Brown, both from the Class of 1965. The pair were feted by Jim Chapman, who thanked them for their years of service to the organization.
