The high school gym was packed Friday night when, between the JV and Varsity games against U-Prep, the building was renamed to honor coach Bob Levada, who taught and coached in Susanville schools for more than three decades, including 25-years at Lassen High.
Levada was a teacher and football and basketball coach at Lassen High until his retirement in 1984, also serving as the school’s Athletic Director and mentor to many young coaches.
Levada’s wife Mary was there, along with daughters Michelle and Ann, as part of the ceremony which officially renamed the nearly 80-year old building.
The renaming was thanks to the efforts of the Templeton and Bennett families, Bill Ellena and Donna Morelini, president of the Alumni Association.
