Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative is asking customers to conserve power this morning as the utility deals with a loss of power from their primary provider and only limited power from a backup source.
According to PSREC Energy Services Manager Corby Erwin PSREC is experiencing a system-wide outage due to loss of their transmission feed.
“Our backup provider isn’t able to carry our entire system due to downed lines,” explains Erwin, “but they have been able to provide a small amount of power on an alternate line, but it is not enough to carry the whole system.”
The utility will be implementing rolling blackouts to provide members with periodic power until further notice.
Erwin asked members to conserve as much as possible when they do have power.
There is no estimated time of restoration.
