United Blood Services is partnering with local community heroes for theĀ fourth annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive at the LDS Church, 905 Richmond Road, July 24th and 25th. All donors will receive a custom Battle T-Shirt and will get a chance to enter to win a Harley-Davidson SportsterĀ® 1200 Custom.
Since 2015, when the event began, over 200 life-saving pints have been collected each year. The team that recruits the most blood donors during the event will receive a trophy and bragging rights. This yearĀ United Blood ServicesĀ hopes to collect over 250 pints of bloodĀ during the two-day competition.
āSummer is typically a slower season for blood donations, but the need for blood never goes away. Those patients who need blood must rely on volunteers to ensure they will get the blood they need,ā said Alma Webb, Donor Recruitment Representative, UBS.Ā āWith the involvement of emergency responders, we hope more people will understand the ongoing need for blood and the impact they have on others when they give.ā
The Battle of the Badges blood drive competition allows donors to choose which organization they want to donate blood on behalf of; Team Law or Team Fire. Join United Blood Services and emergency responders in an effort to save lives on and off the job.
To donate blood, volunteers must be at least 16 years old (16 year old donors need minor donor permits which are available at the blood drive), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health.
