The Susanville Police Department this afternoon released details surrounding the discovery of a body near the Little League fields along the Susan River Saturday morning.
According to Police Lieutenant Matt Wood, officers from the department responded to the area of the Susan River near the Pat Murphy Fields around 9:30a.m. on the report of an unconscious person.
When officers arrived they contacted the reporting party who had been walking on the river trail when they noticed a subject lying down by the river, and it appeared that the person wasn’t breathing.
Officers checked the area and located the body of a Susanville resident identified as 46 year-old Richard Wayne Stowe.
The Susanville Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Lassen County Sheriff Coroner’s Office.
