The Susanville Police Department is seeking information surrounding an altercation on N. Fairfield Ave. Wednesday evening which involved a juvenile and a machete-wielding suspect.
According to Police Lieutenant Matt Wood, officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to the 300 block of N. Fairfield Ave. at around 9:00p.m. on a reported altercation involving a machete.
When officers arrived they contacted a 17 year-old boy who reported that the suspect yelled profanities at him while driving by in a vehicle, then got out of his vehicle and assaulted him with a machete before two subjects pulled the suspect away from the victim. The victim was not injured during the incident.
As a result of the investigation, officers were able to identify 27 year-old Susanville resident Dios Wainis as the suspect. Officers were unable to locate Wainis but did locate the machete.
“Wainis’ whereabouts remain unknown,” said Lieutenant Wood. “Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Susanville Police Department’s 24 hour dispatch line at (530) 257-2171. You can remain anonymous if you wish.”
