The Susanville Police Department is currently seeking a 31 year old male identified as Ameko Vaimasanuu, also known as ‘Mecca.’
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Vaimasanuu earlier today according to Police Chief Kevin Jones.
The charges listed are assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and intimidating a witness. The bail of the warrant is set at $25,000.
“This afternoon an SPD Detective spotted him near Limoneria Avenue and Mecca fled on foot,” said Jones.
Officers from SPD, CHP and LCSO responded in attempt to set a perimeter to locate him. After an hour and multiple home searches Officers were unable to locate him. It was later reported he was hiding in a shed somewhere in the area.
Vaimasanuu is also a person of interest in the shooting this morning on North Street.
He is of Pacific Islander descent, 5’11″, 220 lbs with long black hair. He is known to be violent and possibly armed with a gun or other type of weapon. He is often seen walking in Susanville with no shirt on, wearing abackpack. He frequents the Upland, Santa Paula, Limoneria and Monrovia street area.
Anyone who sees this person should call the Susanville Police Dispatch at 257-2171 and report his whereabouts.
