Thieves worked through the early morning hours of May 30th to break into a shoe store in historic uptown Susanville, doing thousands of dollars in damage and making off with $1,500 in merchandise.
According to Susanville Police Chief Kevin Jones, officers from the department responded to an alarm at Johnson’s Shoes early Thursday morning to discover the store had been broken into.

More than $1,500 in merchandise was stolen, including a variety of shoes from the store’s inventory. Damage to the business was estimated by the Police Department at thousands of dollars.
“We are currently seeking people who might have seen anyone walking in the uptown area of Main St. in the hours of 4:00 to 5:00a.m. on Thursday morning, ” said Jones.
The suspects took more than 20 pairs of shoes, mostly DC and DVS brand, sizes 9.5 to 11.5.
The thieves also disabled the power to the business prior to breaking in and might have been seen in an alley near the business.
