Public Health Acknowledges COVID Spike as County Hits 194 Active Cases


Lassen County Public Health is reporting a rise in the number of positive COVID-19 cases here in the county and that, as a result of this rise, the Emergency Room at Banner Lassen Medical Center has a larger than normal number of unvaccinated patients with COVID-19 like symptoms or are confirmed to have COVID-19.

Public Health is reminding everyone that if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and may have had contact with a person with COVID-19, or recently traveled to an area with apparent community spread, to call your health care provider before seeking medical care so that the appropriate precautions can be taken.

Anyone seeking a COVID-19 test may contact the local Rite-Aid Pharmacy or the Local Walgreens Pharmacy.

Public Health is also offering COVID-19 testing with no appointment necessary Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m.

For those seeking a COVID-19 vaccine, they may contact the local Rite-Aid Pharmacy, Walgreens Pharmacy, or the Wal-Mart Pharmacy.

Public Health is also offering COVID-19 vaccines:

Moderna/ J&J Vaccine on Tuesdays 9:00a.m. to 11:30a.m. Walk-ins are welcome.

Pfizer on Thursdays 9:00a.m. until 11:30a.m. No Walk-ins.

As of September 6th, at 5:00a.m., here are COVID-19 statistics being reported by local health officials.

Lassen County’s Public Health Department is reporting 194-active cases in the county with 5 people currently hospitalized. Twenty-seven deaths have now been attributed to the infection and so far there have been a total of 2,784 cases reported. The county is reporting 35 new cases this morning.

So far 7,600 doses of the vaccine have been administered. This number does not include Banner or CDCR vaccinations according to the health department.

Infections at Local Prisons

As of August 27th, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is reporting 16-active cases among staff at CCC and 36-active cases at High Desert.

The CDCR is reporting 1 active case of COVID-19 among the inmate population at High Desert State Prison.

FCI Herlong is reporting no active cases.
