Lassen County residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on the proposed Skyline Aggregates Quarry project during a public hearing hosted by the Lassen County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, August 25th, at 6:00p.m.
The hearing will be held at Jensen Hall inside the Lassen County Fairgrounds, located at 195 Russel Ave. in Susanville.
The public meeting offers local community members, property owners, and interested regional agencies a dedicated platform to examine the Lassen County Planning Commission’s recommendation and present feedback directly to county supervisors before a final decision on project approval is made.
Submitted by applicant TLT Enterprises LLC (Perry Thompson), the project proposes surface aggregate mining, processing and land reclamation operations conducted by Hat Creek Construction and Materials, Inc.
The proposed site encompasses 460 acres of a 640-acre parcel (APN 101-110-024) situated roughly 1.5 miles east of State Route 139 off Skyline Road, northeast of Susanville.
If approved, the hard rock mining operation is slated to begin in the spring of 2027 with a projected 50-year operational span, structured across five sequential phases lasting approximately 10 years each.
The project location carries an Upland Conservation, Agricultural Preserve Combining District (U-C-A-P) zoning designation and requires no amendments to the county general plan or zoning maps.
Interested community members can participate directly by attending the hearing in person at Jensen Hall to deliver public testimony. Environmental Impact Report #2023-004, Use Permit #2023-010, and Reclamation Plan #2023-001 are currently available for public review.
