Firefighters were dispatched to an address in the 400 block of Alexander Avenue at around 6:45 Wednesday after receiving a report of smoke in the residence.

“E-621 was first due engine on scene and reported smoke coming from the residence,” explains Susanville City Fire Department Captain Hernandez. “Other units dispatched to the fire were Susanville City E-622 and E-623, OES C-6601, Susan River Fire Protection District E-223 and C-200, Cal/Fire E-2271, Susanville Police Department, LMUD Janesville Fire Department E-425 and Standish Litchfield Fire Department E-323.”

According to Hernandez Engine-621’s crew along with Cal-fire’s Engine-2271 performed an aggressive attack to contain the fire to the area of origin which was the chimney flue area.

“There was some extension into the wall adjacent to the woodstove,” said Hernandez. “All personnel on scene did an excellent job saving the structure.”
