In preparation for a busy fire season the Northeastern California and Northern Nevada chapters of the American Red Cross will conduct a training exercise in Susanville this Wednesday, May 14th. The exercise will give Red Cross volunteers a chance to practice establishing an evacuation shelter and dealing with a number of common scenarios that frequently occur in shelters.
According toĀ Eric Kiltz, Red Cross Disaster Program Manager, approximately 35 members of the community have signed up to be ‘mock clients’ for the day. The volunteers will go through the shelter registration process and will be assisting by acting out various scenarios.
Lunch for the cadre of volunteers will be provided courtesy of Diamond Mountain Casino and Susanville Supermarket.
The exercise will take place at Jensen Hall in the Lassen County Fairgrounds and runs from 9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m.
