Remains Found Near Desmond Meadows Confirmed to be Missing Susanville Man

Human remains discovered by a crew working in the forest northwest of Susanville June 30th, have been confirmed by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office to be those of a Susanville man who was reported missing 4-months ago.

Deputies responded to a the D Line, located approximately three-miles north of Desmond Meadows after Foresters from Sierra Pacific Industries, who were conducting an archeological survey on SPI lands, located remains in the area and contacted the Sheriff’s Office.

The remains were collected and sent to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and identification.

Monday, the Sheriff’s Office received confirmation the remains belonged to 19-year old Susanville resident Matthew Tyler “Ash” Brown.

Brown was reported missing to the Susanville Police Department on March 15th.
