Robert and RoseMarie Thompson Named As Fair’s Old-Timers of the Year

The Lassen County Fair has named Robert and RoseMarie Thompson as the 2026 Old Timers of the Year, honoring their more than 50 years of dedication to education, agriculture, youth development and community service.

Together, the Thompsons raised six children while building careers that shaped generations of local families. RoseMarie spent nearly three decades as a librarian, and Bob served 25 years on the Lassen County Board of Education, where he advocated for students and rural schools.

Beyond the classroom, Bob and RoseMarie were longtime 4-H leaders, active FFA supporters, and advocates for local emergency services. They were also instrumental in projects that strengthened the Bieber community. Their family has been a fixture at the Lassen County Fair for decades, showing sheep and cattle and sharing antique engines and farm equipment with visitors.

Fairgoers can celebrate the Thompsons during the Old Timer Luncheon this Friday, July 17th, and the Lassen County Fair Parade on Saturday.

Be sure to stop by and visit Bob and RoseMarie during the fair at their antique engine and farm equipment display. The exhibit is a favorite tradition for many, and Bob is always happy to share the history behind the equipment and the stories that make them a special part of the fair.
