Robert (Bob) Warren Russell – February 27, 2025

Robert (Bob) Warren Russell, affectionately known as “The Bullet,” passed away peacefully in his home on February 27, 2025, in Susanville, California, at the age of 78.

Born in Ohio on February 18, 1947, Bob grew up on a large farm as the middle child of three brothers. His childhood was filled with adventure alongside his siblings and cousin Fred. In 1962, the family relocated to California, where Bob’s natural athleticism and competitive spirit flourished. He attended Sylmar High School and graduated in 1966. A gifted athlete, he played shortstop for the baseball team and was also a standout basketball player.

In the early 1980’s, Bob moved to Susanville, California, where he established Russell’s Window Cleaning, a business that remains in operation today. He took immense pride in serving his community and was a strong supporter of small businesses in town. His dedication to his work and his commitment to those around him left a lasting impact on many residents.

Bob had an undeniable passion for golf, a sport he embraced at the age of 18. His powerful swing earned him the nickname “The Bullet,” as the ball would rocket off his club with remarkable speed. Over the years, he won numerous tournaments and had the privilege of playing some of the most prestigious courses in the country, including Spyglass Hill, Pebble Beach and Cypress Point. He also enjoyed many rounds of golf on his home course, Diamond Mountain, as well as surrounding courses where he honed his skills. His love for golf extended beyond competition when he became an instructor, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for the game with others.

Beyond golf, Bob cherished time spent fishing with family and friends. He made it a tradition to reward his employees with an annual fishing trip to the Eastern Sierras.  Many fond memories of the great outdoors were made during these trips.

In 2000, Bob married Teresa Russell (Staggs), and they shared over two decades together filled with laughter, great food and countless rounds of golf. Bob was known for his boundless energy, sharp wit and gift for storytelling. A natural teacher and mentor, he provided wisdom and guidance to those around him. His thoughtful conversations and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  Bob’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his kindness, humor and generosity of spirit.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Teresa Russell; a son, Jeramy Russell; parents, Arthur and Dorothy Russell; and one brother, Karl Russell.

Bob is survived by his son Brian Russell (Melinda) of Chico, CA; a brother William Russell (Cathy) of Palmdale, CA; and three step daughters Jamie Purvis of Aberdeen, WA, Ashley Corbally of Missoula, MT and Morgan Ackley (Mat) of McKinney, TX.  He also leaves behind 3 nephews, a niece, and 6 step grand kids who will greatly miss him.
