The outstanding talent of the small town of Susanville is undeniable and apparent in any and all events you go to, and the Susanville Rockettes are no exception. This Saturday and next, December 8th and 15th, don’t miss out on the 3rd annual performance from the Susanville Rockettes.

These dedicated dancers have been rehearsing since the middle of September for their fabulous show.

‘The show will have four different scenes,” said Director, Jessica Newton. “Including all things Christmas with Santa’s Toy Shop, the Nutcracker, Shopping, and of course the true meaning of Christmas in all it’s beauty and wonder the Nativity.”

The Susanville City Rockettes were born in 2005 when Doug Sheehy asked if Newton could put a Rockette kick line together for an Ed Susanville Show. As time progressed, the crowd over-grew the venue, and the Rockettes decided it was time they had their own show, thus, the Susanville City Rockettes came to present their Christmas Spectacular.

The dancers, singers, and actors on the stage are all a part of our community, and there will be live performances that ring in the season by Elgin Canon, Ben Wade, Julie Newton, Derek Noah, and Cassie Levi.

“The best part about being with the Rockettes, is probably being with my girls because we’re always around each other and have basically become family.” said Kylie Downing, a seasoned J&J Rockette.

“It’s also awesome being able to perform in front of people and bring them entertainment with something we’ve worked so hard for.”

According to Newton, the ten Susanville City Rockettes range from ages 14 to 19 and are all students at J&J Performing Arts, many of them are a part of competitive teams, and soloists.

“We have a 10 year old guest Rockette this year, Ashlyn Clark, who is everything a dancer should be,” said Newton. “They rehearse two to three times a week and perform up to 15 numbers a show. They are very talented young women and they also serve their community, ringing the Salvation Army Bell, performing at the local Elderly Homes, donating proceeds to Toys for Tots and much more.”

The event starts at 7:00p.m. both Saturdays at the Veteran’s Memorial Hall. Tickets range from $8 for adults, $5 kids 12 and under, and children under 3 get in for free.
