The Rotary Club of Susanville has announced details of its upcoming annual Youth Speech Contest, offering local students a platform to share their perspectives on community impact and compete for significant prizes. This year’s theme, “The Magic of Rotary,” challenges participants to explore how they have or will “Work YOUR Magic” within one or more of Rotary International’s seven areas of focus.
Participants will deliver 5-7 minute speeches, addressing how they’ve made a difference or plan to contribute to their community in alignment with Rotary’s causes.
The contest is open to all local area high school students, freshman thru seniors, including the charter schools.
A contestant winning first place at the District could receive up to $1,250 for their efforts. That would be $100 at the club level, $150 at the Area I level and finally $1,000 at the District level.
Contest Structure:
- Club Contest (March 6, 2025): Top two winners will each receive $100 and advance to the Area I Contest.
- Area I Contest (March 27, 2025): The winner will receive $150 and move on to the District Contest. Second place will receive $100.
- District Contest (May 3, 2025): The first-place winner will be awarded $1,000.
The March 6th, Club Contest will be held at the Monticola Clubhouse (140 S Lassen St., Susanville, CA 96130) at 6:00p.m., with orientation beginning at 5:30.
The District 5190 Conference in Fallon, Nevada, will host the final competition and announce the winners on May 3rd.
