Rotary Club of Susanville Marks 100 Years with Centennial Legacy Scholarships

The Rotary Club of Susanville is reaching a historic milestone this year as it celebrates its 100th anniversary of service in our community. In honor of this centennial celebration, the club is offering three $1,000 Centennial Legacy Scholarships to graduating seniors at Lassen High School who are preparing to transition into higher education.

These scholarships are available to students planning to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school. To qualify, applicants must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrate the qualities of good citizenship that the Rotary Club has championed for the last century.

To apply, students should prepare a comprehensive application packet that begins with a clear cover sheet. This page must include the applicant’s name, mailing address, telephone or cell phone number, and email address, along with the specific name of the trade school or college they intend to attend.

Along with this cover sheet, students need to provide an unofficial copy of their high school transcript to verify their academic standing.

The heart of the application is a reflective essay of no more than 1,000 words centered on the current Rotary International theme, “Unite for Good.”

As part of a global network of over 40,000 clubs and 1.4 million members, the Susanville chapter is looking for students who embody the “Service Above Self” motto. The essay should explore how you see yourself – both in your current life and in your future career – contributing to a community that unites for the common good. The club is particularly interested in hearing your vision for becoming a future Rotarian and how you plan to serve your community in the years to come.

Click here to download the application information. The application deadline is 3:00p.m. on Wednesday, April 15th. All completed applications must be dropped off at the Lassen High Counseling Office by that time.

For those seeking additional information or clarification on the process, Jim Chapman is available to assist via phone at 1.530.251.6828 or by email at [email protected].
