Several Animals Found Dead After RV Fire Near Janesville

Several animals were found dead after firefighters from the Janesville Fire Protection District extinguished an RV fire near Sears Road and A-3 April 3rd.

According to details provided by the agency, firefighters from the JFPD responded to a reported RV fire, along with Cal-Fire Engine 2251, CCC Engine 5210 and Chief 5200, shortly after noon, arriving to find a fully involved RV behind a structure.

“Susanville Interagency Fire Center informed responding fire crews that bystanders on scene had reported one person may have still been inside the RV,” explains JFPD Assistant Chief Robert Stading.

“Engine 425 performed a defensive fire attack, protecting the surrounding structures and preventing the fire from igniting nearby vegetation.”

Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze and began overhaul, finding several deceased animals in the RV.

According to Stading the fire was investigated and no cause was determined at the time.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries and the JFPD was supported by Cal-FIRE with one engine and one battalion chief, Susan River with one water tender, one engine and one fire cheif from CCC and the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office.
