Shortly after 2:00p.m. on Monday firefighters from the Susanville Fire Department were called to an address on Johnstonville Road after receiving a report of a fire in a 5th wheel camper trailer and made quick work of the small conflagration.

“Upon arrival,” details SFD Fire Captain Leon Myers, “E621 observed smoke and flames coming from a trailer and bystanders notified the engine crew that all occupants were out.”

“The engine crew pulled hose lines and quickly extinguished the fire, minimizing the fire spread to the kitchen area.”

According to Myers, an investigation showed that the origin of the fire was near the cook stove. The owners stated that a repair person was scheduled to come by later in the day due to a light smell of gas.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries, and the Susanville Fire Department was supported by Cal-FIRE, Susan River Fire Protection District, City of Susanville Natural Gas, and the Susanville Police Department.
