Lassen County Sheriff Dean Growdon has released the identity of a man shot and killed in Janesville Monday (see earlier story here) after a bizarre string of circumstances led to a confrontation with a homeowner.
According to Sheriff Growdon the suspect has been identified as 25-year old Herlong resident Zachary Linboyd Estepp.
“Fingerprints were used for official identification,” Growdon explained. “Estepp has an extensive criminal history with criminal convictions out of multiple central valley counties.”
Additionally, through the course of this investigation, deputies identified Estepp as a suspect in a theft that occurred at Big 5 Sporting Goods in Susanville on the morning of July 9th.
“The official cause of Estepp’s death is pending receipt of the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Report, as well as toxicology results.”
If you have additional information related to this case, Growdon asks that you please contact the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office at 530-257-6121.
