Deputies from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office startled a pair of burglary suspects Friday evening in a remote area south of Milford, catching the men in the process of burglarizing property and arresting one while the other fled on foot.

According to details released Monday by Sheriff Dean Growdon, a suspicious vehicle was reported by citizens in the mountains above Milford, in an location where burglaries had recently been reported.

“Deputies responded to the area and made contact with one person at a residence,” detailed Growdon. “While the first subject was being detained, a second subject was seen fleeing on foot.”

“Sheriff’s Deputies and CHP Officers attempted to contain and apprehend the second subject without success.”

Arrested at the scene was 36-year old Susanville resident identified by the LCSO as Joshua Dixon. During the course of their investigation, deputies recovered four firearms that had been in possession of the suspects. The serial numbers on two of the firearms had been removed.

“It was also apparent that the suspects had been in the process of burglarizing the property,” said Growdon. “Additionally, deputies recovered methamphetamine during the course of the investigation.”

Joshua Dixon was booked for violations of trespassing, burglary, possession of controlled substances and possession of a firearm with the serial numbers removed. He was booked into the Lassen County Jail and held on $35,000 bail.

This case is still under investigation. Anyone with information related to the outstanding suspects or the burglaries in the area, is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at (530) 257-6121.
