A Deputy from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and an Officer from the California Highway Patrol responded at about 5:30 last Monday morning to a reported burglary at the Doyle Payless Store on Highway 395 in Doyle.
When law enforcement arrived on-scene they found a broken window, which appeared to have been the primary means of entry into the store.
“Several areas inside the store had been ransacked and eleven cartons of cigarettes and a handheld safe had been taken,” explains Sergeant David Woginrich, “Several cartons of cigarettes and the safe were later located and recovered.”
The investigation led officers to question 24 year-old Doyle resident Kyle Olmstead, and 22 year-old Doyle resident Daniel Shaw. Through the course of the investigation the Deputy determined that Shaw broke into the store and later met up with Olmstead.
Shaw was arrested and booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of Burglary and Conspiracy to Commit a Crime. A charge of Conspiracy to Commit a Crime will be filed with the District Attorney’s Office on Olmstead.
Sergeant Woginrich also thanked the CHP Officer for his assistance in this investigation.
