Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public Comment on Off-Highway Grant

0

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that it is looking for public comments on its proposed grant application to help the California State Parks Off-Highway Motorized Vehicle Recreation Division manage off-highway vehicle recreation on public lands.

Sheriff Dean Growdon is inviting the public to attend a special meeting at 6:00p.m. on Tuesday, March 20th at the Sheriff’s Office, 1415 Sheriff Cady Lane.

“The goal of the Sheriff’s Office,” said Growdon in yesterday’s press release, ”is to enhance the responsible use and access to public lands and encourage safe, legal off-highway riding opportunities in the county.”

“We are also able to serve the off-highway community by providing local information, guidance and recent updates on riding conditions and the best places to ride.”

The Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement services and patrols to the Fort Sage and Rice Canyon Off-Highway Vehicle Parks as well as other areas in Lassen County. The department is expanding its off-highway vehicle program to include a snowmobile and winter off-highway component late this year.

If you have questions or comments call John Bohl at the Sheriff’s Office, 257-6121.

Written comments will also be accepted and should be mailed to the Sheriff’s Department attention John Bohl or emailed to jbohl@co.lassen.ca.us.
