Two Standish residents were arrested on multiple charges relating to firearms and stolen property Sunday after Lassen County Sheriff’s Deputies pulled over the vehicle they were in shortly after midnight and discovered two stolen handguns.
Deputies first noticed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver then made several quick turns in an apparent attempt to avoid the LCSO unit.
“The suspect vehicle pulled into a driveway of a home on Lambert Lane, where deputies made contact with two occupants,” explained Sheriff Dean Growdon in details released Wednesday.
The homeowner came out shortly after the contact and advised deputies the occupants of the vehicle did not belong at his residence.
“During the investigation, both occupants were found to have semi-automatic pistol magazines and ammunition in their pockets,” said Growdon.
“The occupants admitted to being convicted felons, which was later verified. The deputies subsequently searched the vehicle and located two semi-automatic handguns concealed in the front passenger compartment. After further investigation, the deputies discovered both handguns were previously reported stolen from separate incidents.”
The suspects were identified by the Sheriff’s Office as 44-year old Standish resident Jason Douglas Roderick and 30-year old Standish resident Winston Phillip Luna.
According to the LCSO Roderick and Luna were booked into the Lassen County Jail for several felony charges including; a felon in possession of a firearm; a felon in possession of ammunition; possession of a concealed firearm by a felon and possession of stolen property.
Bail was set at $30,000 each and the case was referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
