Four individuals, including three juveniles, were hospitalized Monday evening following a single-vehicle rollover on State Route 36, east of Mooney Road, near Westwood. Investigators from the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol have indicated that alcohol and/or drug impairment is believed to be a factor in the incident.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:35p.m. on June 23rd as 30-year-old Susanville resident Michelle Urionaguena was driving a 2010 Chevrolet HHR eastbound on State Route 36 when, for reasons currently under investigation, her vehicle veered off the roadway in a southeasterly direction.
The Chevrolet subsequently overturned, coming to rest on its roof approximately 25 feet south of the highway.
Urionaguena suffered minor injuries and the three juvenile passengers, a five-year-old, a three-year-old and a two-month-old, were transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center, where they received treatment for moderate injuries. Their current conditions have not been released.
The Susanville CHP office is actively investigating the collision. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Susanville Communications Center at 1.530.252.1900.
