The Susanville Fire Department was dispatched to a home on Glenn Drive at around 4:45 Tuesday morning after receiving a report of a vegetation fire in the back yard of a residence.
The Susanville Fire Department Volunteers, along with automatic aid from Cal-Fire and Susan River Fire Protection District responded as well.
Firefighters arrived on-scene to find a 30′ by 30′ spot fire.
“The rate of spread was greatly reduced due to the area having been previously mowed,” said Fire Captain Hernandez. “Due to an aggressive fire attack the fire was contained at the 30′ by 30′ spot.
No structures or surrounding properties sustained damage. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
The cause of the fire was determined to be human caused according to the report released by the Fire Department.
Officers from the Susanville Police Department used fire extinguishers to help keep the fire in check while the fire department was en route.
“The Susanville Fire Department would like to remind all residents to make your property fire safe by cutting weeds and removing combustible material to limit the spread of fire.”
