Small Vegetation Fire on North Side of Town Under Investigation by Cal-FIRE

On October 15th, the Susanville Fire Department responded to a reported vegetation fire on Highway 139 near Hall Street arriving to find a brush fire approximately one-eighth of an acre in size threatening a nearby residential structure.

Truck One assumed command and went into attack mode, knocking down the fire, stopping its progress and preventing further damage.

The fire was determined to be in Cal-FIRE’s area of responsibility and the SFD provided automatic aid. When Cal-FIRE units arrived on the scene to assist and took over command, they layed down a progressive hose on the perimeter of the burned area.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by CalFire. There were no reported injuries.
