Susanville’s own Rick and Anna Stewart take off for an adventure of a lifetime this week as they participate in the Race Across America as stars of the JDRF IGA Team.
The riders and crew will be travelling 3,000 miles, climbing 170,000 feet, crossing 12 states, passing through 88 counties and 359 different communities between Oceanside, California and Annapolis, Maryland. All, hopefully, in less than six days from coast to coast.
Not only is the JDRF IGA bike team going for a cross country record, but at the same time they are striving to raise $100,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The JDRF raises money throughout the year to help fund research to find a cure for type 1 diabetes, a disease which currently afflicts more than 3 million people in America alone.
