Buckets of hearts started magically appearing around town Monday as the Lassen County Probation Department kicks off its annual Appreciation Fundraiser.
Now in its fifth year, this event gives community members a chance to send a ‘bucket of hearts’ to a person, a group, or a local business they appreciate, all while contributing to a great cause.
The staff at the Probation Department have the fun job of personally delivering the big buckets of appreciation to the lucky recipients.
Spreading the Love
You have plenty of options for who to surprise! You can send hearts to a specific individual or to a whole group of people. The Probation folks love visiting local businesses to drop off buckets! If you choose a group bucket, the donation amount will determine how many sweet treats go out with the delivery.
Want to surprise a student or a favorite educator? You can send a bucket to kids at school or their teacher—just ask the department when you order, and they will take care of the rest.
Please note: Delivery is only available within Lassen County.
Where do the funds go?
Proceeds from the hearts go directly back into the community. In 2025, the department donated nearly $2,000 to sponsor and support local community events and organizations.
Just a few of the past beneficiaries include:
- Lassen County Torch Run: Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Northern California.
- The Susanville Salvation Army: Bell Ringing & Angel Tree Shopping.
- Susanvillestuff.com: Community Easter Egg Hunt.
- Susanville Blue Star Moms: Care Package Donations.
- Lassen County Office of Education: Sober Graduation.
