Stolen Cell Phone Tracked: Police Arrest Juvenile for Possession of Stolen Property

The signal from a stolen cellphone led Susanville Police to an address in the 400 block of Wall Street Wednesday where they took a 13 year-old into custody for possession of stolen property.

In a report detailing the incident Police Lieutenant Matt Wood said that at around 2:00 Wednesday afternoon officers from the Susanville Police Department received a report of a burglary at a residence in the 1200 block of Hood Street. The victim reported to the officer that someone had entered their residence and stolen a cell phone.

The phone was tracked to a residence in the 400 block of Wall Street. using a cell phone locator application.

The investigation revealed that a 13 year-old had entered the victim’s residence and stolen the cell phone. The juvenile was subsequently arrested and booked into the Lassen County Juvenile Detention Facility for possession of stolen property.

The case has been referred to the Juvenile Division of the Lassen County Probation Department.
