A tradition that has lasted for more than thirty years, the Lassen County Geography Bee, was held at Richmond School last week, featuring some of our brightest local students showing off their knowledge of United States and world geography.

The Bee’s purpose is to encourage the love for and study of geography. Knowing where and how the world operates is vital to understanding ourselves and our increasingly interdependent world.

Volunteers now organize the local Geography Bee, but the atlases were paid for by the Lassen County Office of Education and Margie’s Book Nook.

Fourth and 5th overall winner Astrid Morales from Meadow View; 2nd overall winner for 4th and 5th Wyatt Bruce from Richmond; 3rd overall winner 4th and 5th Clarssa McGarva from Johnstonville, 5th grade winner Matthew Granderson from Richmond; and 4th grade winner Rebel Roberts from Meadow View.
