Sun Valley Resident Killed in Highway 36 Motorcycle Collision

A 59-year old Sun Valley, Nevada motorcyclist, identified by the California Highway Patrol as Daniel W. Partlow, was killed in a single-vehicle collision Friday evening east of Lassen Lodge on Highway 36, according to details released by the CHP.

Partlow was driving his 2017 Harley-Davidson westbound on Highway 36 at a high rate of speed when he entered a series of turns and was witnessed by a passing motorist and his passenger as traveling over the double yellow lines into the oncoming lane, and then back into the westbound lane.

The witnesses reported that the motorcyclist did not appear to slow the bike and collided with the guardrail on the north side of the roadway where he was thrown from the bike onto the blacktop, sustaining injuries.

According to the Highway Patrol report the motorcyclist was wearing a DOT approved helmet, however during the collision the helmet came off.

Emergency personnel arrived on scene and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Susanville office of the CHP and leave a message for Officer Howell at (530) 252-1800.
