The Rotary Club of Susanville Sunrise gathered on April 24th for its annual Paul Harris Foundation Dinner, an evening dedicated to celebrating local leadership, community dedication, and the spirit of Service Above Self. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship awards, which honor individuals whose outstanding contributions have made a tangible, positive impact both locally and globally.
Doing Good in the World
Named after the founder of Rotary International, the Paul Harris Fellow recognition is one of the highest honors within the organization, representing a deep commitment to the Rotary Foundation’s mission to “do good in the world.”
The recognition acknowledges individuals who have personally contributed—or in whose name a contribution of $1,000 has been made—to The Rotary Foundation. These funds help support a massive network of humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs worldwide.
Honoring Community Leadership
This year, the Susanville Sunrise Rotary proudly extended this honor to several prominent community figures and dedicated club members. In total, five community members were presented with Paul Harris Fellowship awards, one individual received a special recognition award, and three longtime Club members were celebrated for reaching their next level of foundation recognition.
Among the community recipients, Joe, Rosanne and Makayla Comino were awarded Paul Harris Fellowships for their exceptional service to the Susanville community, alongside Dustin and Emilie Kelly, who were also presented with Fellowship awards. Emily Comino was presented with a special recognition award for her outstanding efforts and dedication.
The evening also shined a light on the ongoing dedication within the club’s own ranks. Susanville Sunrise Rotary members Arlin Billington, Zeane’ Barber, and Nancy Cameron were all recognized for moving up to their next level of Paul Harris Fellowship recognition, marking their continuous financial and personal commitment to Rotary’s global initiatives.
